<p class="MsoNormal" style="background:white"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">These retreats are designed to provide the time and space for academic staff with caregiving responsibilities to work on any research work including, for
example, funding applications, project conceptualisation, background reading, data analysis and writing up research outputs (recognising 'research' is practiced in myriad different ways across the University). <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="background:white"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">The retreats are open to all research-active academic staff with significant caring responsibilities, including, for example, childcare, eldercare, disability
care and care responsibilities at a community-level. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="background:white"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">While we will endeavour to accommodate all valid applications, there is a cap on the total number of participants. We will aim for a balance of returning
and new applicants, with first priority being given to people who have not attended a Carers’ Retreat before. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="background:white"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">The residential Carer's retreat will be held in the Ōtaki Gorge at Waihōanga Lodge and includes transport, meals, and accommodation, and a small contribution
(if needed) towards extra caring costs incurred by leaving dependents at home. Where logistically possible, we will endeavour to accommodate requests - for example by providing private accommodation for parents of babies with an additional daytime carer. Please
let us know if you are interested in coming, but NOT staying overnight, or coming for only some of the week (we may be able to split one attendance across two people, with the first coming until Wednesday morning and the other arriving Wednesday afternoon,
for example). Let us know your needs and we’ll see what might be possible!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
