Dear Foundations colleagues. The following email is about the CADAD survey
that was mentioned at the Colloquium. If you have not received notice of it
from your Director, you can access the survey here direct. The survey is
for Australian academic developers only (I believe).

Cheers

Allan

Subject: Surveys on Development of Academics

Dear Colleagues

This is a request to Directors of Academic Development (CADAD members) and
others involved in the development of academics as teachers to complete a
survey on Australian practice in academic development if they have not
already done so.

CADAD members will receive a separate request from David Gosling to complete
the survey designed for Directors of Academic Development Units.

For others involved in the development of academics as teachers the
appropriate survey link is:

You are encouraged to pass on this link to others involved in the
development of academics as teachers.

Interim reports of from the Survey of Directors of Academic Development in
Australian universities and the survey of others involved in the development
of academics as teachers were a focus for discussion at the Development of
Academics and Higher Education Futures Forum conducted in Melbourne on 25
and 26 October. The Forum was attended by over 100 delegates representing
all Australian universities. Survey data together with Forum discussions
will inform system-wide recommendations to Carrick Institute and other
national bodies on approaches to and support of development of academics in
Australia. There is a risk that the survey data may not be representative as
only about half the eligible respondents have completed the Directors'
survey and responses to the survey of others involve in development of
academics was limited to about 30 . I and attendees at the Forum would like
to request that those Directors and others eligible to submit who have not
completed a survey do so before the surveys close on 23 November. The
surveys do require a substantial commitment of time, 30-40 minutes, but your
input would be much appreciated and will help to inform decision-making
about development of academics in Australia.

Our thanks
