Subject: [Foundations] Foundations Colloquium Invitation

Dear Colleagues

It is with great pleasure that the Teaching and Learning Development
team at James Cook University invite you to participate in the
Foundations Colloquium 2008. This event will be held in Townsville on
29-30 September, 2008. The theme for the Colloquium is: Enhancing
Quality.

We have arranged an interesting program with a number of presenters who
will be addressing aspects of the theme. These include Mr Travis
Kelleher from Edith Cowan University who, in 2007, won a Carrick
Teaching Award in the Early Career Academic Category. Travis'
presentation has been kindly sponsored by the Australian Learning and
Teaching Council. Professor Sally Kift, ALTC Senior Fellow will also be
delivering a facilitated discussion titled: Attending to the Very
Foundations: A FYE Perspective for Staff Development that Articulates a
Transition Pedagogy. The complete program (which is subject to change)
is now available on our website
<http://www.jcu.edu.au/td/foundations/index.htm> .

We have also arranged a fun and exciting Colloquium Dinner at Reef HQ
where we will spend an evening at the world's largest living coral reef
aquarium. The aquarium exhibits provide a real life encounter of the
Great Barrier Reef with the main attraction being a two and a half
million litre coral reef exhibit that replicates a natural reef
ecosystem. The cost of the dinner is $60 (excluding drinks).

The Colloquium website <http://www.jcu.edu.au/td/foundations/index.htm>
is now available and contains full information on the program,
registration and accommodation. The registration fee is $175, which
includes tea and coffee on arrival, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
each day. The registration form is available on the website under the
registration <http://www.jcu.edu.au/td/foundations/JCUPRD_033394.html>
button.

If you have any queries about the Colloquium please don't hesitate to
contact us at foundations at jcu.edu.au <mailto:foundations at jcu.edu.au> .

We look forward to seeing you at the 2008 Foundations Colloquium in
Townsville.

Kind regards
JCU Foundations Colloquium Organising Committee
