Dear Colleagues (and apologies to the contacts from partner institutions
who have already received the news).

As you may recall, it was decided at the 2005 Colloquium in Hobart to
submit a proposal to the Carrick Institute that focused on Foundations
programs and preparing new academics to teach.

Finally after all this time, the project has been funded. It has been a
long time in development, a lot of it due to fitting in with Carrick's
priorities and the development of the Discipline Based Initiatives
programs.

There is a link to the full project proposal on the Foundations
Colloquium webpage at
http://www.flinders.edu.au/teach/foundations/index.htm. You will see a
link in the left menu.

All universities that endorsed the project are listed in the proposal
document. Endorsement included the contribution of $500 to support the
development of the project as well as a letter of support from PVC/DVCs.
If your institution is not on the list and you would like to involved in
the project, please contact Allan Goody.

The project is funded over three years and intended to involve as many
of the Foundations network members from the endorsing institutions as
possible. The steering committee is continuing to meet and you will see
the timeline for the project in the proposal. By the time of the 2007
Colloquium (details now on the web) the first stages of the project will
be complete and time at the Colloquium will be devoted to the project.

Cheers
