Hi everyone,

There seems to be some interest in the findings of Tai and my email
survey so I've attached the complete list of recommended readings
mentioned by our respondents (including typos and partial references).
I'm not sure whether this helps answer the original question but the
most commonly mentioned readings set for higher education teaching and
learning are:

the Student Does. Buckingham: Society for Research in Higher Education
& Open University Press. (x36)
Ramsden, P. 2003. Learning to Teach in Higher Education. 2nd ed. Oxon:
RoutledgeFalmer (x24)
Brookfield, S.D. (1995). Becoming a critically reflective teacher. San
Francisco: Jossey-Bass. (x12)
Prosser, M., & Trigwell, K. (1999). Understanding learning and
teaching: the experience in higher education. Buckingham: Society for
Research into Higher Education & Open University Press. (x7)
Marton, F., Hounsell, D. and Entwistle, N. (1997). The Experience of
Learning. Scottish Academic Press: Edinburgh (x6)
Boyer, E (1990) Scholarship reconsidered: Priorities of the
professoriate, Princeton, NJ: The Carnegie Foundation for the
Advancement of Teaching. (x4)
Exley, K & Dennick, R (2004) Small Group Teaching. Tutorials, Seminars
and Beyond. London. RoutledgeFalmer (x4)

comprehensive guide (2nd Edition). San Francisco: Jossey bass

education. London: Sage (x4)
Schon, D. A. (1987). Educating the Reflective Practitioner: Toward a
new design for teaching and learning in the professions. San
Francisco: Jossey-Bass Higher Education Series. (x4)
Brookfield, S.D. (2000). The skilful teacher: on technique trust and
responsiveness in the classroom. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass. (x3)
Laurillard, D (2001) Rethinking University Teaching, Routledge, 2nd

teaching & assessment , Kogan Page, London . (x3)

Peter
