AI and Assessment in FHSS - panel discussion and workshop
Thursday 7 May 3-4.30pm
AI presents particular challenges for assessment in the humanities and social sciences, but so far there have been few attempts to systematically review how FHSS lecturers at Te Herenga Waka are responding to these challenges. Supported by an FHSS L&T grant, we have collated samples of assessment and AI policies from FHSS lecturers to understand how assessment is being adapted to account for the influence of AI. In this workshop, we will share a summary of our findings and hear from five lecturers who have different approaches to assessment and AI.
In the second half of the workshop, we will break into themed groups where participants can discuss aspects of AI and assessment relevant to them. Groups will be formed based on interests in the room, but might include: assessment for large first year courses, wording and practices for communicating AI policies to students, ethical dilemmas of AI, material and embodied assessments, and reflecting on and documenting learning in the age of AI.
Date: Thursday 7 May, 3-4.30pm
Location: AM106
Afternoon tea will be provided.
Please RSVP to Claire for catering purposes: claire.timperley at vuw.ac.nz<mailto:claire.timperley at vuw.ac.nz>
Ngā mihi nui,
Claire Timperley (HPPI) and Sally Hill (SLC)
