Hi Tilly

I'm not sure if you were able to attend Peter Kandlebinder's (with Tai
Peseta) session at the colloquium

i thought this was a very interesting session on the key concepts taught
in academic development programs

the top three most commonly taught concepts that tended to be strongly
interrelated were constructive alignment, student approaches to learning
(and teacher approaches) and reflective practice. at UWS we use Biggs
and Tang (2007) in our foundations program which is a very accessible
text about the first two key concepts

we are considering whether it might be useful to combine chapters from
Biggs and Tang and key articles on reflective practice

hope this helps

regards
graham

ofUniversity Teaching

Hi all

We're on the hunt for a replacement academic staff induction text/s.
For several years, new USC staff have received copies of Murphy E. 1998,
Lecturing at University, CEA Publications, Curtin University. (new
teaching staff) and Bertola, P. & Murphy, E., 1994, Tutoring at
University, CEA Publications, Curtin University. (new teaching staff and
sessionals). These are no longer in print.

I'd be thankful for responses as to what text/s you use/recommend. I'll
compile a summary of responses at the end of October and circulate back
to the lists.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers
Tilly
